Go wild on October 6 at Hartley Nature Center’s fifth annual Nature Trax 10k, 5k and Kids Critter trail races! Get some friends or co-workers together and enter the 10k team category. Run beneath towering pines, across boardwalks, past lush meadows--all the way to the far reaches of Hartley Park. Take in the fall foliage (when you’re not busy dodging rocks and roots). This volunteer managed race benefits the mission of Hartley Nature Center: to provide opportunities for understanding, appreciation, and stewardship of the natural world.
Timeline of events:
Packet Pickup is from 8:30AM-9:45AM
Race Day Registration is from 8:30AM-9:45AM
Start of Kids Critter race is 9:30AM
Start of 5k is 10AM
Start of 10k is 10:15AM
Cost:
10k and 5k
September: $25
October 1-4: $30
Race Day: $35
Kids Critter Race: Free
Child Care: $5/child
Event Start Location
Both the start and finish of all races will be located on the gravel old Hartley Road just out the doors from the Hartley Nature Center.

Course Description
This is Duluth trail running at its best! Yes, there are some hills. Yes, there are rocks and roots. Yes, you will be loving every moment of it and probably will not even notice any of that stuff! This is a great trail, but it's still trail running and you want to make sure you are properly prepared to be out there for a little longer than your typical road run.
***Because of the nature of this race and its terrain we will not allow any headphone use so that everyone is paying attention to their surroundings and not getting lost!
Awards
We will have awards for the top 3 Male and Female runners, as well as the top team. We will also do lots of awards drawn randomly based on bib number so that anyone can win something!
Packet Pickup / Expo
Packet Pickup is available day of event from 8:30AM-9:45AM inside of the Hartley Nature Center.
Timing / Results
This race will be timed, but NOT chip timed.
Post Race Activities
Hang out, eat some chili, win some stuff, and chat about how great of a time you had out there on the best trails in Duluth!
Weather
Ah Duluth weather in October, who knows! It should hopefully be great running weather as it has in past years but be prepared for anything!
Directions
Hartley Nature Center is located at 3001 Woodland Ave. From HWY 35 exit 21st Ave E and head up the hill. 21st Ave E will merge with Woodland Ave. Take the right at this merge and go about 1.5 miles to the entrance of Hartley Nature Center, which will be on you left.
Parking
Parking is limited at the Nature Center, so please carpool as much as possible! We have also now been given the ok to park at Concordia Lutheran church located on Woodland Ave and Fairmont St. If you park here you can make the very short hike thru the Superior Hiking Trail right into Hartley!
