Course Description This beautiful racecourse is a gently rolling trail race held on the XC skiing trails. These are nice wide trails, not singletrack, so there will be plenty of room to run with a buddy! But, these are still trails, so be cautious with your footing and you will have a great time.
Awards Awards to the top 3 overall Male and Female in the 5k followed by drawings for lots of other cool prizes based on bib number. All participants have a chance to win something!
Awards to immediately follow the last runner.
***Stick around for these, we always have LOTS of cool stuff to give away!
Packet Pickup / Expo There will be day of packet pickup from 8:30AM-9:45AM right near the start at the pavilion in Lester Park.
We will also offer packet pickup at Duluth Running Co. on Friday August 31 from 4PM-6PM.
Timing / Results This race will be professionally chip timed!
Post Race Activities -Hang out and play with us and the Duluth Children's Museum!
-Explore all the other trails that Lester Park has to offer and also some great swimming holes!
-We are also hoping to have a local snow cone truck come by to serve up some yummy treats! (Bring some money for this if interested.)
Weather It's usually pretty amazing in early September, but there's always the chance of some rain or also some good heat. Be prepared for anything! If it's hot out the creek will be an amazing place to hop in after you are done running!
Directions From the North:
Exit Superior St. from HWY 61. Travel .6 miles and Lester Park will be on your right hand side.
From the South:
Exit Hwy 35 at 26th Ave East and go straight up the hill 4 blocks to Superior St. Take a right on Superior St. and travel East/North for 3.5 miles. Lester Park will be on your left hand side.
Parking There is one larger parking lot located off of Lester River Road which can take roughly 60 cars. Plan to get here early if you want one of these spots. Otherwise, there is lots of street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods just to the west of Lester Park. If you park here you will walk towards the park and see the trails that will lead you to the pavilion where the start/finish area and also packet pickup are. |
