A fun-filled day of free live music & entertainment, races, tournaments, games, awards, prize drawings, a silent and live auction, health resources, vendors, food and family fun!
100% of the proceeds raised from this fundraiser sponsored by O Ka'u Kakou will be donated toward the construction and development of a new Bay Clinic Ka'u Family Health Center.
All donations received will also be MATCHED 100% up to $15,000 until June 11th!

Event Start Location Na'alehu Park in the heart of Na'alehu, Hawai'i. Located on the Big Island in the Southernmost District of Ka'u.
Course Description The race course traverses an old historic “Cane Field Road” in Ka'u, once used for hauling sugar cane to Na'alehu and Pahala sugar plantations. Offering one of the most scenic views of the Big Island’s southern coast, the route encompasses over 30 miles of breathtaking coastal landscapes from mauka to makai (mountain to sea).
The route is fairly level with overall elevation change estimated at 700 feet. The first 1.5 miles of the race includes a gradual incline that levels off for the remainder of the course.
Awards The award presentation for top race finishers will begin at 12:00pm. Awards for tournament winners will be presented at 2:45pm.
Participants registered by May 31st for the races, archery and hunters obstacle course tournaments will receive event t-shirts. T-shirts will be available in limited supply and cannot be guaranteed after May 31st.
Finisher medals will be awarded to all participants who complete the Half Marathon, 10K or 5K race.
Overall Race Division Winners will receive prizes valued at $50 to $100.
Overall Archery Winner will receive a BowTech Destroyer bow.
Overall Hunter's Obstacle Course Winner will receive a Garmin Astro DC-40 GPS Tracking System.
Additional prizes and awards are being added daily!
Packet Pickup / Expo Race packets are available for pickup (along with last minute registration) Friday, June 10th from 3:00pm-8:00pm at Na'alehu Park and again on race day, Saturday, June 11th from 6:00am-7:00am. Last minute registrations can be paid in person in cash, local check, or credit card (Visa, MC, Discover).
The races begin at 7:00am and the tournaments begin at 9:00am. Race information will also be emailed.
Timing / Results Bib timing will be used for the races.
Results will be posted during the Ka'u Family Fun Fest and on the event website at http://okaukakou.com.
Post Race Activities The Silent Auction begins at 8:00am inside the Community Center. The Live Auction with Mayor Billy Kenoi begins at 2:00pm on the main stage. You must sign up for a free bidder number at the Information Booth to participate in either auction. Auction items will need to be paid for and picked up the day of the event. Payment will be accepted via cash, credit card (Visa, MC, and/or Discover), or local check.
From 9:00am-5:00pm, please stay as our guest to enjoy live entertainment from One Journey, the Hawai'i County Band, Lava Boys, Keoki Kahumoku and Miss Ka'u Coffee Brandy Shibuya, Dennis and David Kamakahi and Three Men in a Dub. Live Zumba will be featured on stage in the morning and afternoon. The Ka’u Family Fun Fest also features tournaments, games, hula, food and vendor booths, community booths, health screenings, water slides, keiki bouncers, rock wall climbing, face painting, a dunking booth and so much more!
~TOURNAMENTS~
All tournaments begin at 9:00am. The Archery and Hunter’s Obstacle Course competitions will be held on the Rodeo Grounds. The Portuguese Horseshoe and Jan Ken Po competitions will be held on the baseball outfield. Youth HI-PAL Basketball will be held on both the Basketball and Tennis Courts.
Weather The weather in Hawai'i in June is much like it is year-round: beautiful! Expect temperatures around 77 degrees with some cloud coverage to shade your run and gentle ocean breezes to keep you cool across the finish line.
Directions Directions from the Hilo Airport:
From the Airport Road, turn left at Hawaii Belt Road. Drive 63 miles until you reach Na'alehu. Na'alehu Park is on the left hand side of the street (ocean side).
Directions from the Kona Airport:
From the Airport Road, turn right at HI-19/Queen Kaahumanu Hwy (6.8 mi). Turn right at Palani Road (.4 mi). Turn left at Kuakini Hwy (8.4 mi). Continue onto HI-11/Hawaii Belt Road (47.9 mi) until you reach the town of Na'alehu. Na'alehu Park is on the right side of the street.
Parking Parking is available at the Na'alehu School off Ohai Road. The Na’alehu Community Center lot is reserved for handicapped parking. |
