This race began as the original Pittsburgh Marathon and has evolved into one of the better warm-up races used by many Pittsburghers to prepare for the spring marathon season. It also makes a great prep race for Just A Short Run - 1/2 marathon also held in North Park the last Saturday of March.
In 2009, despite bitter cold we hit the highest number of participants ever with 705 finishers, so the area's runners obviously are tough!
Runners Gifts - Long Sleeve Shirts & Gloves
Every pre-registered participant (by 2/15/2010) will receive a long sleeve technical fiber running shirt . All others while supplies last. We will do our best but please pre-register. This is a tech tee and is sublimated so it takes longer to produce.
15 mile finishers will receive a pair of gloves and 20 mile finishers will receive an embroidered hat as an additional incentive to go the distance.

We will do registration and post-race activities at the Rose Barn. The Boathouse will be the starting and end point for the course. It will be open for use of the restrooms and changing before and after the race as well.
Course Description
Course management provided by Elite Runners & Walkers
Championchip Timing provided by The Runner's High, Grove City, PA.
Splits provided at each five mile interval.
Aid stations every 1.25 miles with water, gels, and sport drink.
Limited restroom facilities and no showers available. Come dressed to run.
Races will take place regardless of weather. No deferred date.
Awards
10 mile Awards
All runners will be scored as if competeing in 10 mile event.
Top 3 Male and female oveall finishers. Top M & F Masters finisher. No duplication. Top 3 M & F in the following age groups. 19 & under, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-69, and 70+.
15 mile Awards
No overall or age group awards. All 15 mile finishers receive a pair of imprinted running gloves. The 15 mile incentive is there to keep the 10 milers going, and it's there to provide some consolation for the 20 milers who change their minds at 15 miles.
20 mile Awards
Top 3 overall male and female finishers. Top M & F Masters finisher. No age group awards. All 20 mile finishers receive an emboidered Spring Thaw Hat.
Packet Pickup / Expo
Pre-registred runners may pick up their packets at Elite Runners & Walkers in Robinson
Thursday Feb. 25th 11 am - 8pm
Friday February Feb. 26th 10 am - 7 pm.
Late registration can also be done at this time.
If you miss these two days and still want to run, there will be registation on Race Day beginning at 8:30 am in the North Park ROSE BARN across the street from the Boathouse. We encourage pre-registration to ensure everyone gets a shirt.
Timing / Results
The Runner's High will provide race day timing services.
The race will be timed using ChampionChip timing technology.
You will be issued a computer chip to attach to your shoe.
As you complete each five mile loop, your time will be automatically recorded.
When you have completed your final loop, you must return the chip or be charged a $35.00 replacement fee.
Times will be recorded until 3-1/2 hours into the event.
Results for each five mile segment will be posted on the internet at www.runhigh.com.

Directions
Start & Finish in parking lot of North Park Boathouse in Pittsburgh, PA. From I-79, get off at Wexford/910 exit (North of Pittsburgh) Follow Rt. 910 East about 4 miles to the entrance to North Park located on Pierce Mill Rd. Boathouse is approximately 1.5 miles down Pierce Mill Rd. Registration and awards in the Rose Barn across the street from the Boathouse. Parking is available at the Rose Barn and along Pierce Mill Road or at the Spillway lot on Babcock Road.

No parking in Boathouse parking lot morning of event.
Shuttle Busses will run from the Pool, Spillway, and ice arena lots. Please CARPOOL!
