The Ojai 2 Ocean Marathon is 26.2 miles of mountain and oceanfront scenery. Starting in beautiful Ojai, California, the course begins at 700 ft. altitude and gradually descends to sea-level finishing near the historic Ventura, California Pier. The course is a fast, USATF certified Boston Marathon Qualifier (USATF Certification #: CA11052RS).
The O2O Half-Marathon is a fast, beautiful, point to point 13.1 mile course The race starts near Foster Park just outside Ventura and runs gently downhill to the Ventura beachfront finishing just past the historic Ventura Pier with the Ojai 2 Ocean Marathon finishers.
Event Start Location Each competitor will choose a shuttle bus time leaving from the Ventura County Fairgrounds (near the finish line) to the Marathon start line in Ojai or the Half-Marathon start line near Foster Park. The trip is approximately 15-25 minutes. Shuttles will begin to run at 4:00am. There will be limited parking near the start line, and a shuttle will not be provided after the race from the start to the finish.
Course Description The marathon course begins near Nordoff High School in Ojai with a 10k road loop followed by over 10 miles of downhill, paved bike path before beginning a road and bike path loop near the Ventura Oceanfront. Over the 26.2 miles you will see beautiful mountain peaks, the Ventura River Basin, beach-front Pierpont neighborhood, the gorgeous Ventura Promenade, and more. There is a net downhill of over 700 feet. All finishers must be able to complete the course in under 6 hours.
The Half-Marathon course has improved this year to give the 13.1 milers a similar experience to the marathoners, making it more an Ojai 2 Ocean event! A shuttle will take the participants to Foster Park between Ojai and Ventura near the start line. From there, the runners run the very gradual downhill winding through Ventura's West side valley to the gorgeous Oceanfront with views of the Channel Islands. The next part of the course extends near the ocean to the Pierpont beach neighborhood finally finishing along the Ventura Promenade past the historic Ventura Pier at Promenade Park. The course should run lightning fast!
Awards Each finisher will receive a medal with the race logo made of recycled materials. The top 5 overall male and female finishers as well as the top 3 masters male and female finishers will receive special eco-friendly awards.

Common Disorders of the Achilles Tendon Achilles tendonitis is an inflammation of the Achilles tendon. This inflammation is typically short-lived. Over time, if not resolved, the condition may progress to a degeneration of the tendon (Achilles tendonosis), in which the tendon loses its organized structure and is likely to develop microscopic tears. Read this snack on the causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of these problems.

Absolutely a wonderful race! This was my 23rd marathon and I can't praise the organizers enough. They did a wonderful job! My only slight complaint is there should have been more restrooms at the start and the sand portion (probably a quarter mile) certainly slowed everyone down a little. Overall, very well done!
