Course Description
5-mile out-and-back course
fast, flat, chip timed
A course that started and finished at the Brewery was a priority but the original idea for a loop course that crossed the Clark Street Bridge and Highway HH Bridge quickly died when the issue of crossing two sets of railroad tracks could not be resolved. The current out-and-back course is very fast, scenic and safe. It is closed completely to traffic. It offers both a fast, flat course for the competitive runners, and a social atmosphere for those runners who like to see their friends and family on the way back. It’s very common to see runners high-five” each other as they pass in opposite directions. The course has been wheel-measured” several times to ensure accuracy. In 2009, the course was modified to accommodate a larger number of participants. The course starts and finishes on Water Street directly in front of the Brewery.

Chondromalacia is a term used to describe damage or softening of the articular cartilage on the underside of the kneecap. It is similar to patellofemoral pain syndrome (runner's knee), which refers to pain under and around the knee cap.
