  The Kona Marathon and Family Fun Runs offers all four of the traditional road racing distances to choose from: Marathon, (26.2 miles), Half Marathon, (13.1 miles), 10 Kilometer, and 5 Kilometer. All distances are open to runners, walkers, and wheelchair athletes of all ages and abilities.

The Kona Coast is well known as the ultimate vacation destination in Hawaii. The Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K courses run along scenic Alii Drive on the shoreline of the Kona Coast offering beautiful views of the ocean and lush Hawaiian rain forests. The Marathon course extends into the unique black lava landscape of the Big Island of Hawaii. Truly, a run you will never forget. Experience the true spirit of Aloha in Hawaii at this smaller friendly event.

The Start/Finish is at the beautiful Keauhou Beach Resort right on the ocean at 78-6740 Alii Drive.

Course Description
The runs are out and back and travel along the breathtaking shoreline of the Kona Coast with the Marathon continuing into the black lava fields, following the same route as the renown Ford Ironman World Championship race portion. Aid Stations are well stocked with water, Coke, Diet Coke and Ultima Replenisher. Helpful and friendly volunteers greet and encourage you along the way. There is fresh hot coffee available at the Start line from the title sponsor - UCC the best 100% Kona coffee and beer at the Finish line provided by Kona Brewing.

Awards
Awards/Prizes: for both male and female, first overall in each race (Marathon top three) and top 2 in each of 10 year age divisions. Award presentations will take place upon completion of each race. (Top three Marathon - male & female - $200, $100, $75) There is also a $100 prize for the first place Big Island Resident Marathon Finisher - male and female. All finishers receive a finisher t-shirt at the end of their race. Medals are given to Marathon and Half Marathon Finishers as they cross the finish line. Shell lei are given to all participants.

Packet Pickup / Expo
Late registration and packet pick up is Saturday, June 25, at the host hotel - Keauhou Beach Resort, 78-6740 Alii Drive from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. There is no race day registration for the Marathon or Half. You can however, pick up your race number from 4:30 am until race start. The 10K and 5K can register race day until these races start.
The Expo is outside by the ocean on the grounds of the Keauhou Beach Resort on Saturday during packet pick up. Bring your swim suit as there is great snorkeling at the Kahaluu Beach Park right next to the hotel. Swim with the turtles and colorful reef fish. Even try out a little surfing if you are so inclined.

Timing / Results
The timing is done by JTL Timing Company. This is not a chip timed race. Result cards will be available for all participants once they cross the finish line. Race results will be available on line at: www.JTLtiming.com, www.konamarathon.com on Monday, June 27 and in the West Hawaii newspaper. Certificates can be printed out on Monday at: www.konamarathon.com and photos can be ordered beginning Monday at www.hawaiiphotoman.com

Post Race Activities
Join in the fun of the award ceremonies with beer from Kona Brewing and other goodies at the finish line.

Weather
Weather at 5:30 am will be in the 70's raising to mid 80's by 11:00 am. Drink lots of water on the course and begin hydrating with electrolytes 3 to 4 days pre race.
There are aid stations every 1 to 1 1/4 miles along the courses, in addition to sprinklers approximately every 1 to 2 miles to cool you off.

Directions
The Keauhou Beach Resort is 6 miles south of the center of Kailua-Kona on Alii Drive, right on the ocean and next to the wonderful Kahaluu snorkeling beach.

Parking
There is plenty of parking across the street from the Keauhou Beach Resort. For those staying at the resort there is guest parking.
